Bakers from Glastonbury’s Burns the Bread have stripped off in the name of charity.

Third-generation bakers Max and Casey Stoddart posed nude with carefully placed bread loaves as part of a calendar for Cancer Research.

“A few months ago we were approached by the ladies at the Cancer Research Shop in Glastonbury who asked if we’d like to take part in a calendar shoot to raise awareness for prostate cancer,” said Casey Stoddart, who handles the retail side of the business. Max, meanwhile, looks after production.

“Mr Burns, having already taken part in a nude calendar a couple of years previously kindly turned down the offer and asked us grandsons to take part instead.”

Staff at other local businesses – including Apple Tree Therapies, Laura Lou Lou's Vintage & Retro Boutique and jewellery shop The Magpie Nest – also stripped off for the calendar.

“Over the years Burns the Bread has helped countless charities, and we always like to do our bit for the community whether that's donating cakes for a coffee morning, giving prizes for raffles or - in this case - taking our kit off for the camera,” he added.

The calendar is available now at the Glastonbury Cancer Research shop.

Burns the Bread was founded by Bob Burns in 1983, with his daughter and grandsons since joining the business. British Baker subscribers can read more about the history of the firm here.
